Stupidly Simple
Privacy Policy
Stupidly Simple is a bundle of small Mac apps made by MARS Creations, Inc. This policy covers those apps and the sites at stupidlysimple.app and stupidlysimpleapps.com. It is written in plain language on purpose. The Terms of Service cover the license.
The short version
Your notes, cards, and clipboard history stay on your Mac, in plain files. The apps do not have accounts, and they do not upload that content to us. When you buy the bundle, we receive the email address you give Stripe, because that is how we send your downloads.
What stays on your Mac
Tracker, Clipper, and Marker are local-first:
- Tracker stores project cards in a plain JSON file. When iCloud Drive is available, that file lives in a Tracker folder in your iCloud Drive, so Macs signed into your iCloud can share it. If iCloud Drive is not available, Tracker keeps the file on that Mac, under Application Support.
- Clipper stores clipboard history in a JSON file and an images folder under Application Support on that Mac. Clips are not synced.
- Marker edits ordinary Markdown files (
.md) that you open and save wherever you choose. Marker does not upload those files.
We do not receive those files. We cannot read your cards, clips, or documents from our side.
Tracker for iPhone
Tracker for iPhone is not shipping yet. When it does, it will read and write the same cards file through your own iCloud Drive. Apple operates iCloud. We do not run a sync service, and we do not get a copy of the file.
Clipper does not record passwords
Clipper skips clipboard items marked concealed or transient, which is how password managers flag secrets. It also skips anything copied while a password manager, or the system Passwords app, is the frontmost app. Password values are not written into Clipper’s history.
Updates
Tracker, Clipper, and Marker check a public update feed hosted on GitHub Pages so they can offer a new version. That check does not include your documents, cards, or clipboard history. It is a request to the feed. We do not receive your files as part of it.
The website
The marketing site is static pages hosted on Vercel. The site code does not include an analytics script, tracking pixel, or analytics SDK.
- If you pick a theme, the site stores that choice in your browser’s local storage, on your device. We do not receive it.
- The host may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP address, user agent, and the page requested. We use those logs to operate the site. We do not use them to build an advertising profile.
The site does not set its own tracking cookies. Checkout runs on Stripe’s domain and follows Stripe’s privacy policy.
Purchases
The bundle is sold through Stripe. You pay on Stripe’s checkout page. Stripe handles your card and other payment details. We do not receive your full card number.
To deliver the purchase, our server receives the email address from the completed checkout, and your name if you gave Stripe one. We store that email with Loops, the email service we use, together with a Stripe customer id and the date of the purchase. We use it to:
- send the email with your download links
- remember that the address belongs to a bundle owner
- write when something you already paid for is ready, such as Tracker for iPhone
We do not sell your email address, and we do not give it to data brokers.
How long we keep purchase details
We keep the purchase record while we need it to deliver the apps you bought and to answer questions about that purchase. Email hello@stupidlysimple.app if you want it deleted. If we delete it, we may not be able to resend your download links or confirm that the address bought the bundle.
Children
Stupidly Simple is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and post the new version on this page.
